I am a contemporary painter, specialising in figurative acrylic paintings which incorporate dramatic perspective and evocative sensual qualities.
My paintings are mainly A1 size(ish) acrylics on specialist watercolour paper and these current paintings have recently been exhibited at London Barbican and London University. Prior to this I studied art for almost 20 years and have a BA (hons) degree in Fine Art.
Much of my work is born from a love of costume and dressing up. I've always enjoyed role play and have a wardrobe bursting with different outfits.
Initially photographs are taken of me using a variety of different outfits and compositions. However the girl in the photos is inconsequential. I enjoy the idea that my paintings may inspire imaginative scenarios and flirtatious, frisky and sensual thoughts.
My paintings give clues to the viewer as to what the model is feeling and this is apparent either through an expression or a particular pose. For instance I enjoy the ambiguity of a passive look but when combined with wearing skin tight latex it becomes fetishistic and empowering.
Latex for me, is the best material to work with. I love the highly reflective surface and vivid colours combined with some transparancy when pulled tightly over curves. Realistically recreating these textures and colours is my challenge and I feel that acrylics help to heighten the shine and sexiness within the paintings.
